After growing up on James Island as a member of the James Island High School golf team, I went on to play at Spartanburg Methodist before transferring and graduating from Charleston Southern University. Now a PGA Class A Professional with experience working with individuals and groups of all ages and skill levels, I bring my experience of playing on the collegiate level to help my students improve their abilities. Enhancing your skills in all aspects of golf — from the swing to management of the golf course — is very important to me. In my opinion, with good techniques, excellent practice routines, and course management knowledge, anyone can prepare themselves to excel on any golf course. My opinion is that golf is best learned on the golf course under real situations and pressure. These situations help me tailor my teaching to each individual to achieve each students desired results. I strive to coach each student in how to practice, thus recreating these pressure situations and becoming independent of myself so that they can take ownership of their results while we both hold ourselves accountable. This is not the normal "fix my swing" mentality. You will get a coach that puts their full effort into getting you the results you desire. I have been fortunate enough to receive the honor of being selected a US KIDS TOP 50 Instructor in 2020 and 2021 then selected as a US KIDS TOP 50 MASTER INSTRUCTOR in 2022. Why take golf lessons in Charleston?
Charleston-area golf is world-class, led by the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, which hosted the famous 1991 "War on the Shore" Ryder Cup and the 2021 PGA Championship. Wild Dunes Resort on Isle of Palms offers two courses designed by Tom Fazio, and Patriots Point Links provides accessible public golf with views of Charleston Harbor and Fort Sumter.
Lowcountry golf features maritime breezes, salt marsh views, and year-round playability. The coastal environment creates unique conditions with sandy soils, Bermuda and paspalum turf, and wind patterns influenced by tidal creeks and the Atlantic. A Charleston instructor teaches you to manage the coastal winds, read the grain on saltwater-tolerant grasses, and develop the shot versatility needed for Lowcountry links.
Whether you're looking for private golf lessons, beginner golf lessons, or advanced coaching, our Charleston instructors cover every aspect of the game. Book a PGA-certified golf instructor in Charleston through LearnGolf and get matched with a pro who fits your goals, schedule, and budget.
