AJ is the Director of Instruction at Moss Creek Golf Club. He coaches to his players find further enjoyment in life through the game of golf. AJ strives to make golf easier for his players, but knows that not all days on the course come easy. He trains his players so they can find ways to score on days they aren’t hitting it great, and provides practice routines that are both engaging and challenging. AJ believes in on course coaching so he can see his players perform under pressure and analysis their course management. He recognizes the value of a team approach. His team includes a Certified Trainer and a Dr. Physical Therapy to ensure his players have access to all the right coaches allowing them to achieve their goals. AJ lives in the Lowcountry with his wife and daughter. As a family, they love living near the coast and enjoy weekend trips up to the mountains to go hiking. Doug Weaver, a Hilton Head Island, SC native, is the acclaimed Director of the Palmetto Dunes Golf Academy. 2025 Golf Digest's Top Instructor in South Carolina. His journey in golf began humbly, working at the bag drop of the Robert Trent Jones course at Palmetto Dunes after graduating from Furman University, where he played golf alongside future PGA Tour star Brad Faxon. His professional golf journey took off in 1987 with a win at the Zell Wood Country Club Open, followed by 15 mini-tour events victories and earning his PGA Tour card in 1988. He has been coaching golf for over 25 years, with the past 21 years as the Director of Golf Instruction at Palmetto Dunes. His commitment extends beyond the course, contributing to local organizations and coaching in area high schools. He has received awards from the Boys and Girls Club and First Tee. He has worked with the PGA to run PGA Minority programs which helped introduce college students to the game of golf. He is known as the "Golf Whisperer" for his unique teaching approach, blending psychological and technical aspects of the game. He has a minimalist approach, which focuses on limited mechanical changes to the golf swing and helping develop golfers as players. Because of his playing experience, including when he led the 1989 PGA Tour event and the 1993 U.S. Open, Doug is a better player today because of his continued pursuit of excellence in own personal game. He believes in a holistic, simple method of instruction, which has earned accolades including being voted Golf Digest's No. 2 Instructor in South Carolina and the 2017 Hilton Head Island PGA chapter’s “Teacher of the Year.” His TV show and monthly golf tips have made him a familiar face in the community. He is proud to be a member of the Lowcountry Golf Hall of Fame and a regular at the RBC Heritage Tournament. He enjoys giving back through free clinics and personalized instruction, helping golfers of all levels unlock their potential. I am currently giving lessons through the Heritage Golf Academy at Palmetto Hall Golf and Country Club on Hilton Head Island, SC. I joined the PGA in 1988 and have been involved with recognized golf academies throughout the country. From 2006 to 2023, I served as the Director of Golf Development at Turning Stone Resort in central NY that hosted annual PGA Tour events from 2006 to 2011. I was the PGA Tour Ambassador and attended many PGA Tour events, where I built invaluable relationships with PGA Tour players and professionals. The most rewarding aspect of these events was the profound insight I gained from observing the players' swings and engaging in conversations with their coaches on the driving range in the days leading up to the tournament.
