Launch Angle

Initial vertical angle of ball flight

Pronunciation

/lɔːntʃ ˈæŋ.ɡəl/

Definition

The angle at which the ball leaves the clubface relative to the ground. Launch angle, combined with spin rate, determines how far the ball will travel. Modern fitting uses launch monitors to optimize launch angle for maximum distance.
