Swing Path

Direction club moves through impact

Pronunciation

/swɪŋ pæθ/

Definition

The direction the clubhead is moving at impact relative to the target line. An in-to-out path tends to produce draws or hooks, while an out-to-in path produces fades or slices. Combined with clubface angle, swing path determines initial ball direction and curvature.

Example

"His out-to-in swing path caused the slice."
